Technical Report Writing for Engineers and Executives 12-13 August 2013

The energy industry needs staff who can communicate effectively in writing. This is crucially important when technical knowledge needs to be reported to different parts of your organisation or to suppliers, customers and government regulators. Technical knowledge specific to their field of work is possessed by all professionals, however communicating it as a brief and clear message can be challenging. Providing plain English explanations in an easy to read format is a skill that needs to be developed by all staff members to improve an organisation’s effectiveness.
This hands-on, practical workshop covers the key ideas needed to ensure that report writers identify their target audience, draft a suitable report format and ensure the key messages will be read & understood. It uses a series of integrated activities to practice each stage of technical report writing using case studies from the energy industry. Participants will leave the course with the knowledge and skills needed to write better and more useful technical reports inside and outside of their organisation. They will be ready to use these skills to improve their organisation’s future success.
Your expert trainer combines current academic business research with years of hands-on business experience to deliver focused, dynamic courses to clients. He takes participants beyond a simple presentation of facts, to thinking creatively and strategically about the application of knowledge and skills. In his courses, he includes many opportunities for participants to practise skills and to analyse their own success.
Since completing his Doctorate, your trainer has taught, and worked across, a wide range of scientific, technological and business disciplines, dealing with a varying clientele from different countries and age groups. This has given him a keen understanding of what customers require from an organization, and how using this knowledge can benefit the organization. It has also emphasised to him the importance of delivering courses that actively engage the interest of the people he is training, and that have been designed to meet their specific needs and organizational background. Born and raised in Australia, Andrew has worked in the Middle East, Asia and Europe for a variety of international businesses, and academic organisations.
