Negotiation Skills for Engineers and Executives 6-7 August 2013 Cape Town, South Africa

Negotiation is a central part of business life. Every day we negotiate with our colleagues, employees, suppliers, and customers. Many people find negotiating difficult or confronting because they only see the results as a trade-off, in order for one side to win the other has to lose. Effective negotiators who produce sustainable successful deals know that haggling is not the answer. Instead they focus on mutual gains and the merits of each case are negotiated based on fair objective standards.

This hands-on, practical workshop covers the key ideas needed to negotiate successfully in the workplace. It gets the participants practicing their negotiation skills every step of the way, through the use of role-plays and case studies with every topic. Participants will go away with the knowledge and skills needed to make successful deals faster and with less stress, through the application of this successful method.

Dr. Rex Andrew Bean combines current academic business research with years of hands-on business experience to deliver focused, dynamic courses to clients. He takes participants beyond a simple presentation of facts, to thinking creatively and strategically about the application of knowledge and skills. In his courses, he includes many opportunities for participants to practise skills and to analyse their own success.

Since completing his Doctorate, he has taught, and worked across, a wide range of scientific, technological and business disciplines, dealing with a varying clientele from different countries and age groups. This has given him a keen understanding of what customers require from an organization, and how using this knowledge can benefit the organization. It has also emphasised to him the importance

of delivering courses that actively engage the interest of the people he is training, and that have been designed to meet their specific needs and organizational background. Born and raised in Australia, he has worked in the Middle East, Asia and Europe for a variety of international businesses, and academic organisations.
